After growing up in the neighboring state of Alabama, Dr. Ma traveled to the Northeast and attended the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated magna cum laude in bioengineering. He then returned to the University of Alabama Birmingham to earn his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Once he completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr. Ma trained at the joint Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center for his cardiovascular disease fellowship, where he was mentored by internationally recognized leaders in structural and valvular heart disease.

Dr. Ma joined Jackson Heart Clinic in 2019 as a general cardiologist with an emphasis on structural and valvular heart disease imaging, diagnosis, and treatments. His focus takes him into the catheterization and electrophysiology labs, as well as the OR, for real-time intraoperative imaging guidance on structural/valvular procedures and surgeries.

He is board-certified in internal medicine, adult cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, cardiac CT, and vascular imaging. He is currently the medical director of the Jackson Heart Clinic echocardiogram, CT, and nuclear imaging center and of St. Dominic’s cardiovascular noninvasive lab.

Dr. Ma and his wife, Thy, and their son live in the Madison/Ridgeland area. He enjoys exploring playgrounds with his son, cooking, traveling, playing tennis, and cycling during his spare time.
